Google 2-Step Verification or Multi-Factor Authentication
1. Start by logging into your Google Account at myaccount.google.com
2. Select the Security menu item on the left side of the pane.

3. Scroll down to the How you sign in to Google section and select 2-Step Verification
4. Sign into your school account
5. You should see a prompt "Let's set up your phone".
Enter your phone number and select whether you want to receive a text or a phone call. Click NEXT (If preferred, you may choose a different 2 step verification method and remove your phone number after initial setup is complete; see step 8)

6. The next step will confirm you have the correct number entered. Google will text or call you with a code that you will enter into the box where it says Enter the code. After you have input the code click NEXT.

7. Next you should see It worked! Turn on 2-Step Verification? Click the TURN ON button to finish setting up 2-Step Verification.

8. On the last screen Google will show Available second steps that are enabled and below that Add more second steps to verify it’s you. We recommend you choose at least one alternative option in case you are not near your phone or do not have cellular service or Wi-Fi available.
Google gives you multiple options for 2-Step Verification including:
- Passkeys and Security Keys (passkey- uses device lock authentication; or security key- physical USB that must be purchased and in your possession)
- Authenticator App (Google authenticator app that can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Once set up, creates time-based one-time passwords).
- Phone number (receive text or phone call with one time passcode).
- Backup Codes (a list of 10 backup codes that can be used to access your account in case you do not have access to the previous methods of authentication).
***Please note, adding a text/voice number does not give Coahoma ISD any access to your phone. It provides a way for Google to ask you if you are who you say you are by authenticating your password AND adding a second step by verifying with something that you and only you should have (text message, voice call, authenticator app codes, security keys). This transaction is between you and Google alone. CISD does not gain any access to your phone/device or its contents as a result.
